There are trends on each chart (13 is always a strikeout, 2 – 12 is generally favorable to the batter) but they provide a variety of different play results. Each chart represents a different field situation (bases empty, man on first, bases loaded, etc.). That number then used to reference a variety of charts in the manual. The result is then used to reference the player card (another number). For example, if the red dice is 3 and the white is 5, it would be read as a result of 35. Rather than adding, each dice is read as a digit. The gameplay is simplistic yet it offers a variety of results and suspense. The individual cards are all held in a team envelope. Although large in size, it has a solid ring binding and a thick cardstock. The lack of quality in the playing field is made up for with the game manual. I would have liked something more sturdy and quality although this is not vital for the game. The playing field component is a thin piece of cardboard. I've decided to start with the classic, APBA Baseball.ĪPBA Baseball is a delightfully simple yet engaging game that has done well to capture the feel of baseball in the format of a tabletop game. I do a lot of research before I make purchases and I have found that most tabletop games do not have a lot of content for me to review before coming to a decision so I wanted to provide some insight for others like myself.
